Eden Awarded Deaconess Grant

In conjunction with International Literacy Day, Deaconess Foundation announced that Eden UCC received a $1500 grant for our deaconessliteracy program Hot Dogs and Hamburgers.

“Deaconess recognizes research making a straight-line connection between third-grade reading scores, high levels of poverty and mass incarceration,” said Reverend Starsky Wilson, president and CEO. “Literacy for children is a matter of social justice because it impacts the degree of freedom and fullness of life our children will enjoy.”

Those interested in helping with the program should contact Tammy K. or the church office. The group meets Sundays at 9:00 am to discuss procedure and share thoughts.
